I love a good bargain, but most importantly I love to find unique little things for decor and vintage clothes. There are flea markets in Amsterdam but it’s not always that special.
The Ij-Hallen is the biggest flea market in Europe and truly a paradise of treasures and beauties. It happens every month during a weekend, both saturday and sunday. I love going there to lose myself between the stands so full of things that it’s almost impossible to look at everything
There are two parts to the market, the outside and inside. The outside has things like furniture, and bigger items and things and the inside has more clothing and rugs, eletronics, etc… But you can find almost the same things in both parts. This day was particularly cold and rainy, so some things got wet on the outside stands.
Don’t forget to get some poffertjes to go along with your shopping, they have a place that makes fresh ones on the spot. There are also a couple food trucks for when hunger strikes (you can seriously get lost in there for a whole day) with fries and other dutch fried snacks.
I hope you can get a feeling of how the market is from the pictures. x
